Fakhar Zaman Shatters Records to Become Fastest Asian Batter to Reach 3000 ODI Runs

Fakhar Zaman Breaks Babar Azam’s Record to become Fastest Asian Batter to Reach 3000 ODI Runs

In a remarkable performance during the second ODI against New Zealand at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Fakhar Zaman became the fastest Asian batter to reach 3000 ODI runs. The left-handed opener reached this milestone in his 67th inning, breaking the previous record set by his captain, Babar Azam, who had taken 68 innings to achieve the same feat.

Zaman’s blistering century was a crucial factor in Pakistan's victory over the Kiwis, helping the team level the three-match series 1-1. This was his second consecutive century, and his 14th overall in the ODI format, making him the third-fastest player to achieve this feat after South African legend Hashim Amla and India's Virat Kohli.

In addition to breaking his captain's record, Zaman has also equaled the record set by West Indies' Shai Hope, becoming the joint second-fastest batter to reach the 3000-run mark. Hope achieved this milestone in the same number of innings, i.e., 67.

The list of fewest innings to 3000 ODI runs is dominated by some of the biggest names in cricket, with the legendary South African batsman Hashim Amla at the top of the list, having achieved this feat in just 57 innings. After Zaman, Hope, Azam, and Amla, the fifth spot is occupied by another legend, Sir Vivian Richards, who reached 3000 ODI runs in 69 innings.

Zaman's outstanding performance is a testament to his skill and talent as a batsman. His achievement has further strengthened Pakistan's batting lineup and has given fans hope for the future. The left-handed opener will undoubtedly continue to make headlines and set new records as he progresses in his career
